Solar In The Winter
Welcome to the last and final part of our Winter Solar Series! These past three weeks we’ve been busting some myths about solar panels in the winter time. If you’ve been with us since the beginning then you know that going solar during the coldest, darkest and snowiest season of the year is actually worth it!
Here’s a quick recap of what we know so far:
- The cold has no negative effect on solar panels and their energy production; In fact, the cold can actually make solar panels more efficient!
- Snowfall may prevent solar panels from producing energy at max capacity, however, snow accumulation on solar panels is generally not a concern for homeowners.
- Fewer sunlight hours and lower production rates in the winter time can be easily made up by the government incentive of Net Metering!
Each week we discussed different aspects of solar in the winter time, and each week we proved the benefits of having solar despite Canada’s harshest season. We truly believe that winter is the perfect time to go solar.
